Case Study: Hotel Belvedere – the zero-impact hotel innovation

Client: Hotel Belvedere Year: 2023 Typology: Geothermal Installations

The customer

This hotel is positioned at the forefront of the Italian hotel industry with its zero-impact luxury hotel. Located in a picturesque location, the hotel aims to harmoniously blend luxury and environmental sustainability.

The challenge

Besides the challenge of integrating advanced technologies for sustainability without compromising the standard of luxury, an additional obstacle was the hotel’s particular location. The structure stretches along a steep stone wall about a hundred metres high, a feature that imposed considerable engineering and design challenges. It was crucial to design a system that not only met the stringent energy and aesthetic requirements, but was also feasible in such a constructionally demanding context.

The solution

We took a multidisciplinary approach to overcome these challenges, working closely with geology experts, landscape architects and structural engineers to ensure that

Geothermal System: was effectively integrated into the rock, exploiting the thermal stability of the subsoil for heating and cooling the hotel.

Cogeneration Plant and Wind Turbines: were strategically placed to optimise energy efficiency and minimise visual impact, adapting to the unique morphology of the land.

Design and Construction: each element of the project was carefully calibrated to meet the technical and aesthetic challenges posed by the slope, ensuring safety, sustainability and beauty.

Despite the complexity of the site, Saloni Hotel 2 has become an emblem of how innovation and sustainability can find expression even in the most challenging conditions. The hotel has not only achieved its goal of having a very low environmental impact, but has also set a new benchmark for sustainable design, enhancing its unique location.

Conclusion

Saloni Hotel 2 demonstrates our team’s commitment to overcoming technical and environmental obstacles to realise innovative visions. This project demonstrates that, with the right combination of skills and creativity, it is possible to create sustainable luxury structures in locations with significant construction challenges.
